Fantastic opportunity has opened up at DR Solicitors for an experienced solicitor to take a leadership role as Director of Legal Services in a fast growing, national, specialist legal practice based in Guildford.

About the role

This is a full time role working closely with our highly experienced management team to help monitor and control all aspects of our legal services delivery. Your key responsibility will be to ensure we are developing and maintaining excellent relationships with clients by delivering high quality legal services, to a defined scope and budget, consistent with our exacting quality standards. You will be working with all of our colleagues to achieve this, including both our consultant solicitors and our employed business support team, and taking responsibility for the overall client relationships. There is a significant opportunity for further development within the senior management of this fast growing business.

The role includes:

1. Identifying, considering and resolving issues arising on all legal matters
2. Monitoring quality of service delivery and process compliance across the firm
3. Identifying cross selling opportunities
4. Building and maintaining relationships with clients
5. Providing a sounding board for our solicitors, identifying ‘links’ between matters, and ensuring that knowledge is shared appropriately amongst the team
6. Supporting the legal team in managing their scope and budgets as matters progress
7. Providing guidance/supervision to the business support team when needed, dealing with service issues and legal support problems
8. Supporting the sales team with new enquiries including scoping and budgeting for these
9. Delivering billable work for the equivalent of 2 days a week.

About you

We are looking for an experienced solicitor to play a key role in helping to manage the delivery and further growth of our legal work. You will have:

• a broad set of legal experience such that you are confident reviewing, controlling and ‘joining the dots’ all the legal services the firm provides.
• You will probably be a commercial property solicitor with corporate/commercial experience, or vice versa
• an ability to build strong relationships and gain the confidence of fellow professionals (legal, medical, surveyors etc)
• experience in seeking opportunities to maximise revenues
• strong organisational and process management skills, with a proven ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks and looking for opportunities to improve processes
• a track record of practical problem solving
• excellent IT knowledge and high proficiency using case management systems as we are paperless

The right candidate will be a self-starter and excited to join a small, high performing team that will value your contribution. You will also have a passion for primary care as it is important that you quickly learn to ‘speak the language’ of healthcare. You will have deep skills in one of the areas of the technical legal services we provide (probably commercial property, commercial or corporate), but your breadth and commerciality are more important than your specific legal domain.

Remuneration

We offer an excellent remuneration package commensurate with your experience and the role can be undertaken remotely for up to 2 days a week, should you wish.
