New research, published 14 February, has found that housing legal aid work is loss-making for most providers. To help the government understand the financial realities facing civil legal aid providers, the Society has commissioned an in-depth study from Frontier Economics, who have worked with providers across the market to understand their operating model and financial situation. This research will form part of their submission to the government’s review of civil legal aid which is due to report in March. Key findings can be viewed here as can the full report.
The Law Society is looking for legal aid providers to take part in economic research to help them capture the full scale of the sustainability threat facing access to justice. Please sign up to participate by Friday 1 March.
