The Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) is seeking feedback from employers and members of the profession as it evaluates the impact of the Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) and the wider qualification pathway, including Qualifying Work Experience (QWE).

With the first SQE assessments having taken place almost five years ago, the SRA is looking to understand how the new route to qualification is working in practice and to explore both the intended and unintended consequences of the changes.

In particular, the SRA would like to hear from law firms, in-house solicitors and other employers of solicitors with direct experience of the SQE pathway. It is interested in views and experiences relating to:

• the readiness to practise of newly qualified solicitors;
• the experiences of Learning & Development professionals working with trainee solicitors;
• the operation and effectiveness of Qualifying Work Experience (QWE); and
• the direct experiences of newly qualified solicitors who have qualified through the SQE route.

.The feedback will help the SRA build a broader picture of the impact of the SQE to date and inform its consideration of the qualification pathway going forward.
