We’ve been contacted by IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice), a national charity offering free, legally-based support for families navigating special educational needs (SEN) issues.
A family in urgent need of assistance with their appeal to the Special Educational Needs and Disability Tribunal has been unable to secure help through legal aid. Despite contacting every solicitor listed on IPSEA’s site and the government’s ‘Find a legal aid adviser’ tool, they have found no firm with capacity to assist.
IPSEA is currently seeking volunteer support through its own network but has reached out to Surrey Law Society in the hope that a local law firm might be able to help. Legal aid would allow the family to obtain expert reports to strengthen their appeal and ensure their child receives the support they need in school.
We would be extremely grateful if any of our members could review their current capacity and consider taking on this matter. If you may be able to assist, please contact:
