Can you help increase the diversity of leaders in the solicitor profession?

21st July 2026

What helps people from underrepresented groups to progress into leadership positions? What makes mentoring and sponsorship programmes effective?
.

The Law Society has commissioned research into leadership, mentoring and sponsorship programmes designed to support underrepresented groups. By sharing your experiences, you will help them understand what works in practice and inform future recommendations for the profession. They want to hear from people who have experience of such programmes, including

  • Participants or beneficiaries of targeted leadership, mentoring or sponsorship programmes
  • Leaders, mentors or sponsors supporting the progression of others
  • Leadership teams, EDI, HR or Learning and Development professionals who have designed, delivered or overseen these initiatives

Participants will attend either one online focus group (up to 90 minutes) or one online interview (up to 60 minutes)

Other open volunteering opportunities via Get Involved include:

  • Share your views on climate change which seeks feedback from practising solicitors to better understand how climate-related issues are affecting legal practice across all areas of law (register interest by 24 July 2026)
  • Shape our upcoming AI practice note to review and provide feedback on the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in legal practice (register interest by 28 July 2026)
