Following widespread consultation with members of the profession, the Law Society has announced changes to the TA6 Property Information Form, aiming to simplify the process for conveyancers and better support sellers.

The Council met this week to consider the future of the TA6 (5th edition), introduced in 2024 to reflect National Trading Standards Estate and Letting Agency Team  guidance. While well-intentioned, the form raised concerns among conveyancing professionals about complexity and clarity.

After extensive independent research by 2CV Ltd, including feedback from over 1,200 stakeholders, a working group of residential conveyancers has developed a new solution:

• TA6 Form (6th Edition) – mandatory for CQS members from March 2026
• Material Information (MI) Form – optional, designed to support upfront information sharing

.

This revised approach aims to be clearer, reduce duplication, and offer better guidance, training, and implementation support.
