Law Society Practice Note: Mazur and the Conduct of Litigation

22nd October 2025

The Law Society has published a new practice note following the Mazur v Charles Russell Speechlys [2025] EWHC 2341 judgment.

It is important to know what this means for firms and solicitors.

It helps solicitors and law firms understand:

  1. The consequences of breaches of work undertaken by non authorised persons
  2. Under the Legal Services Act 2007 who is authorised to conduct litigation
  3. The difference in conducting litigation and supporting an authorised person

.
