The Law Society’s Diversity Access Scheme is now open for applications for its 2026 cohort. This long-running initiative supports talented aspiring solicitors facing financial, social, or educational barriers.
.
The Diversity Access Scheme (DAS) provides a combined programme of financial support, mentoring, and work experience aimed at widening access to the legal profession for individuals from under-represented and less advantaged backgrounds. Awardees can receive scholarships covering costs towards the Legal Practice Course (LPC) or Solicitors Qualifying Examination (SQE) assessments and preparation.
.
As part of the scheme, participants are matched with professional mentors and offered practical work placements aligned with their interests. The Law Society collaborates with law firms, in-house legal teams, and other sponsors to provide high-quality experience opportunities and ongoing support.
.
The overarching aim of the DAS is to increase diversity in the legal profession by removing key barriers — including financial constraints and limited professional networks — that may prevent aspiring solicitors from progressing.
.
Applications for the 2026 Diversity Access Scheme are now open. Detailed eligibility criteria and guidance are available on The Law Society’s campaign page. Applicants are encouraged to review all requirements carefully to ensure a strong submission.
