Support Access to Justice: Volunteer with LawWorks’ Free Legal Answers Platform

13th March 2025

Surrey Law Society is pleased to share an opportunity from LawWorks, a charity committed to improving access to justice through pro bono legal services.

.

LawWorks is currently calling on solicitors across England and Wales to volunteer with their Free Legal Answers platform – an online service providing initial legal advice to individuals who cannot afford to pay for legal support and are not eligible for legal aid.

Through the platform, eligible clients can submit a legal question online and receive written advice from a qualified solicitor. Areas of law currently covered include:

  • Family
  • Housing
  • Employment
  • Consumer

.

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering with Free Legal Answers is flexible and designed to fit around your schedule. As a solicitor, you can:

.

  • Choose when and how often you respond to questions
  • Participate anonymously, if preferred
  • Access resources and support via the platform
  • Have your advice covered by LawWorks’ professional indemnity insurance
  • Record your pro bono hours and receive reports on your activity

.

To be eligible to volunteer, you must be a solicitor with at least 2 years PQE, hold a current practising certificate, and adhere to the Pro Bono Protocol standards.

This is a great opportunity to make a meaningful impact with minimal time commitment, while supporting individuals who would otherwise be unable to access legal help.
